OCBC Cycle Malaysia Shares the Joy of Cycling
Surprise bicycle gifts bring Raya cheer to Home of Peace children
KUALA LUMPUR, Sept. 8, 2011 – Representatives from OCBC Cycle Malaysia brought smiles to the children’s faces at Home of Peace, a home for underprivileged girls, when they presented 14 Polygon bicycles over the festive Hari Raya season.
According to OCBC Bank (Malaysia) Berhad Director & CEO, Mr. Jeffrey Chew, the gesture reiterated the values of OCBC Cycle Malaysia to encourage Malaysians to get on their bikes and ride to healthier lifestyles. “Every child should be given the opportunity to learn how to ride a bicycle,” he said. “It is a fundamental skill which is critical during these formative years. By learning to ride, these children will now be able to cycle for exercise and leisure and not miss out on this fun element of their childhood,” he added.
Mr. Jeffrey Chew led the entire entourage which included OCBC Bank (Malaysia) employees, as well as, celebrity disc jockey DJ Blink, in teaching the children how to ride their new bikes. To further encourage their development, all 14 children were also offered the chance to ride at OCBC Cycle Malaysia 2011 on October 15.
Justine Morais, the home’s director, was delighted to see the joy on the children’s faces. “I had just returned from a meeting to find 14 bicycles,” she exclaimed. “For each of these children to receive such wonderful gifts is truly a blessing. I am sure they will cherish this day for many years to come,” she beamed.
